CABLE CAR:a £25m
cable car across the Thames is being planned to link 2012
Olympics venues. It will span cross the Thames between
Greenwich Peninsula
and the Royal Docks, carrying up to 2,500 passengers an
hour, 50 metres in the air. It is
designed to cut journey times between the 02 arena and
the ExCel exhibition centre - both of which are Olympic
locations. The privately-funded system could provide a
crossing every 30 seconds. |

Olympic Route Network
(ORN) / “Games Lanes”
* 2.5% of London’s roads will form part of the ORN,
which will be roadwork free and subject to measures such
as changes to traffic signal timing and temporary “Games
Lanes”. It will enable the people who are essential
to the Games to get to their venues in time, but also
helps Londoners to go about their business with as little
disruption as possible.
