Day 1 & 2 Rome - Sorrento
Shortly after arriving in Rome you will travel along
the Amalfi coast which offers spectacular views of the
ocean and hillside towns. The charming town of Sorrento
is situated over steep white cliffs and offers panoramic
views of the Bay of Naples. A sample of the local cuisine,
with a 3 course dinner at the hotel, marks the end of
your second day.
Day 3 Capri
A short transfer by boat brings you to the enchanting
Isle of Capri. This legendary island is surrounded by
rocky coastline, where the crashing sea has formed awe-inspiring
caves. Most well known is the ‘Blue Grotto’.
The town of Capri offers pretty piazzas, fashionable
boutiques, and charming restaurants.
Day 4 Pompeii - Monte Cassino Abbey -Rome
Your day begins with a visit to the excavated ruins
of Pompeii at the foothills of Mt. Vesuvius. En route
to Rome is a visit to Monte Cassino Abbey. The monastery,
founded in 529 A.D. is perched on a mountain high above
the valley its museum houses many splendid treasures
and artifacts. The day ends with a 3 course dinner at
your hotel in Rome.
Day 5 Rome-Tivoli
A morning tour of Classical Rome features the Piazza
Venezia, the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, the Colosseum,
and the Arch of Constantine. Contemporary Rome is highlighted
through the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. The
afternoon holds a visit to lovely Tivoli. Included is
entrance to Villa Adriana (Hadrian's Villa) and Villa
d’Este with its lavishly frescoed reception rooms
and breathtaking garden composed exclusively of water
features.
Day 6 Vatican City
Today begins with a visit to majestic St. Peter's Bassilica,
the Sistine Chapel, to admire Michelangelo’s masterpiece,
and the Vatican Museum. Your afternoon is free to explore.
Perhaps a visit to nearby Castle Saint Angelo to enjoy
a spectacular view of Rome from the terrace or a stroll
along the Tiber river.
Day 7 Assisi - Florence
Traveling through the rolling hills of Umbria, on the
way to Florence, a local guide will take you on a tour
of the medieval town of Assisi. Highlights include a
visit to the Basilica of St. Francis, followed by lunch
at a local restaurant.
Day 8 Florence
Known as the ‘Cradle of the Italian Renaissance’
a morning tour of this magnificent city reveals beautiful
piazza’s and magnificent bridges. Also included
is entrance to the Galleria dell' Accademia, which houses
Michelangelo’s David and other magnificent works
of renaissance art.
The afternoon is free to explore the other splendid
sites this city has to offer.
Day 9 & 10 Venice
Your travels continue on to enchanting Venice, built
on 117 islands. A short cruise along Venice's Grand
Canal takes you to charming St. Mark's Square, a hub
of quintessentially-Italian activity and events. The
tour includes entrance to St. Mark's Basilica. The evening
comes to a close with a sumptuous farewell dinner. Your
tour ends with a transfer to Venice airport for your
flight home. |
